Despite winning last year's pre-season clash against North Melbourne, a dive into the film and underlying numbers highlighted a team on the back foot for the majority of the game, and one ultimately saved by inaccuracy.

A result doesn't matter in pre-season typically, and if West Coast lose to Port Adelaide on March 1, no one will really bat an eyelid.

But, there must be some semblance of competitiveness from a club coming off a historically bad year. Pre-season can set the tone for the year ahead and the Eagles could use all the positive momentum they can get.
