Western Bulldogs will hand Louis Emmett an AFL debut on Saturday against Hawthorn in a bid to replace injured ruckman Tim English.
Revealed on Zero Hanger earlier in the week, Emmett has been pressing his case for a top-flight opportunity, and once English was ruled out with a right knee injury, the youngster's name was on deck to take on the Hawks.
Emmett has dominated in the opening two weeks in the VFL, amassing 17 touches, five marks and seven hitouts in his debut for Footscray, working in tandem with fellow tall Lachlan Smith.

Will be odds-on if English doesn’t get up for Hawks. https://t.co/mxWi5akXG2— Mark Stevens (@StevoMedia) April 6, 2026
The 19-year-old followed up that impressive performance with three goals, 23 possessions, eight clearances, eight marks and seven hitouts, ultimately leapfrogging Smith for the English role.
Small forward Arthur Jones will join English on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury in the win over Essendon last week, while All-Australian midfielder Ed Richards will be pressing his case after training strongly on Thursday.
More to come.
