The Western Bulldogs have recommitted to young duo Luke Cleary and Lachlan Smith, who have penned new deals to remain at the Kennel.

Cleary has extended his time at the club until the end of 2027, while Smith has added another 12 months on top of this season.

Cleary has become a significant contributor in Luke Beveridge's defence in 2025, featuring in eight matches thus far.

The 23-year-old debuted in 2022, but due to form and injury, has struggled to consistently push for senior selection, resulting in a total of 15 AFL matches.

As for Smith, he has yet to debut for the club, but has shown positive signs in his development as a ruckman.

Sitting behind Tim English, the 19-year-old has toiled away in the VFL since he was drafted in the 2023 intake with Pick 47.

Bulldogs EGM of Football Sam Power was pleased the developing duo signed on the dotted line.

"While both Luke and Lachlan are relatively early in their football journey, both have shown traits that can help the Club moving forward," Power said.

"Luke has taken a step forward in 2025, playing reliable football in the senior side as a defender, with plenty of upside given his age and talent.

"Lachlan continues to grow in his role as a ruckman, showing great durability in the VFL program to back up each week as the sole big man.

"We're excited to continue to watch him grow."

Smith and Cleary join Rory Lobb and Ed Richards as players who have recently re-committed to the club.
