West Coast superstar and Brownlow Medallist Ben Cousins is the latest name that will be gracing the field in the upcoming Legends Game at Marvel Stadium.

The return of the marquee clash after a six-year hiatus will mark the 30th anniversary of the passing of one of the game's greats from prostate cancer - E.J. Whitten - a true legend of Australian football, whom the game was played in honour of for multiple years.

Cousins retired after 270 games for the Eagles, and Richmond, but was largely known for his time at the Western Australian club.

The star on-baller was a 2006 premiership player, Brownlow Medallist (2005), MVP (2005), Rising Star winner (1996) and six-time All-Australian.

"I think it might be time to dust them [the footy boots] off. One game, hey? I can get myself up for one! It should be a bit of fun… I'm looking forward to it," he said on Mix94.5's Pete & Kymba with Ben Cousins.

"I only decided [to play] over the weekend. But, for me, the chance to play alongside Cyril, you know? I'm excited about that."

Cousins will play for the All-Stars alongside Nick Riewoldt (captain), Cyril Rioli, Dan Gorringe and Adam Cooney.

Along with the West Coast legend is a half-dozen Norm Smith Medallists, headed by Geelong and GWS forward Steve Johnson.

Johnson will play for the Vics alongside Luke Shuey and Glenn Archer under the guidance of Luke Hodge (captain) and coach Tim Watson.

The All-Stars' line-up will be bolstered by speedsters Isaac Smith, Andrew McLeod and Andrew Embley.
