West Coast face a nervous wait on co-captain Oscar Allen's latest setback, with the Eagles forward unable to finish Sunday's clash with Carlton due to a leg injury.
There was significant concern for the attacker, who went to ground away from play before leaving the field in the final term at Optus Stadium.
Thankfully, Allen has avoided "all the worst-case scenarios", with the early diagnosis being a Plantaris injury in his lower leg.
Speaking after the loss to the Blues, coach Andrew McQualter provided the latest on Allen's situation.
"We think it's not too bad. We've still got to work through the details but we're confident it's not too serious," McQualter said.
"We think it's Plantaris. That's what we think at the moment, but we'll still work through the details and get a report early in the week.
"We saw him come off and our medical team just briefly said that we've avoided all the worst-case scenarios and we'll work through what's next.
"When you see a player go down with no contact off the ball like that, you think the worst. I think there's been a couple of cases of that this year. Fortunately, he's avoided that.
"He's OK. Everyone that gets injured is a bit emotional, and that's just normal."
The Eagles' injury woes were compounded with defender Harry Edwards suffering a shoulder injury and potentially a hamstring concern that also saw his evening curtailed.
Edwards is set to undergo scans as the Eagles sweat on the results of a potential setback or their backman.
The pair of injuries come ahead of West Coast's mid-season bye, with McQualter's men to return in Round 16 when they head to the MCG to face Collingwood.
A positive from the 34-point defeat was the debut of Mid-Season Draft Pick 1 selection Tom McCarthy, who collected a team-high 31 disposals to go with 571 metres gained, nine intercept possessions, nine contested possessions and a goal assist while moving the ball at 93.5% efficiency.
"He was exceptional. I thought it was a really impressive game," McQualter said of the first gamer.
"To be fair, everything we've seen of Tom is that. Just unbelievably calm, boting flusters him, clean on the ball, works hard.
"He was a real shining light for us today."
West Coast sit last on the ladder with one win from 14 matches, with matches against GWS, Port Adelaide and Richmond to follow the game against the Magpies.
