Brisbane would be derelict in its duties not to send someone to Collingwood superstar Nick Daicos in Thursday's clash at the Gabba.

"We'll be giving him some sort of attention," Lions coach Chris Fagan said on AFL360.

The reigning premiers have generally used Josh Dunkley and Jarrod Berry as run-with players, with the latter having been tasked with stopping St Kilda star Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera last week.

Both Berry and Dunkley have spent time on Daicos before in previous clashes, but to varying degrees.

Against the Lions, the star Pie has averaged 30.4 disposals, 4 clearances, three tackles and slightly less than a goal a game.

But Daicos' start to 2026 has forced the tagging issue, gathering 41, 33 and 36 possessions, while also adding time spent inside 50 to his game, resulting in four goals from 10 scores in the first three outings.

"Not quite sure whether it will be a Josh Dunkley or a Jarrod Berry, or whether it's a full-on tag or just around stoppage," Fagan added.

"It's something we need to talk about during the week. But you've got to respect his ability and what he means to their team."

Brisbane recorded its first win of the season after a relatively sluggish start, going down to the Western Bulldogs and Sydney before a victory over the Saints. The Pies returned to form against a battered GWS outfit.

However, both 2023 grand finalists will miss key players on Easter Thursday, with Fagan confirming defender Darcy Gardiner will miss 8-12 weeks, while Noah Answerth has entered concussion protocols.

As for Collingwood, they will miss captain Darcy Moore, who injured his hamstring, while veteran Scott Pendlebury's troublesome Achilles has ruled him out for the trip to Queensland.
