Wantaway Giants defender Leek Aleer is all but certain to join St Kilda in the upcoming off-season, with "a move to Moorabbin now appear[ing] almost inevitable."

Aleer has been starved of senior opportunities at the talented expansion club, playing 18 games since being drafted with Pick 15 in the 2021 National Draft.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to the Saints for the majority of the year, as the Victorian side looks to bolster its list.

Coming out of contract at season's end, Channel 9's Tom Morris believes it is "inevitable" that Aleer will ask to leave.

"Giant Leek Aleer looks increasingly likely to request a trade to St Kilda at the end of the season," Morris said.

Like Carlton's Tom De Koning, the offer from St Kilda is above and beyond what the Giants are prepared to provide, making the decision to depart one he cannot refuse.

"He's weighing up a two-year $800,000 offer in total up against a four-year $3 million deal from St Kilda," Morris continued.

"That's a $2.2 million difference across the life of the deal. Unless the Giants up the proposal, a move to Moorabbin now appears almost inevitable."

It comes as De Koning is also being heavily courted by the Saints, as he weighs up his free agency decision.

The Blues would yield a decent compensation pick given the amount of money the Moorabbin club has reportedly put on the table, which is in the realm of an extra $5 million over seven years.

Whilst attempting to lure the two rival players, St Kilda also has its hands full in retaining star utility Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, who is genuinely considering a switch to South Australia.

Both Port Adelaide and Adelaide have made major bids for Wanganeen-Milera, with the former no doubt utilising strong friendships with Jase Burgoyne and Jason Horne-Francis as part of their pitch, similarly to Jack Lukosius' arrival at Alberton, having known Connor Rozee.
