Retired Brownlow Medal winner Tom Mitchell's first move since leaving the AFL has been locked in, with the former Sydney, Hawthorn and Collingwood midfielder linking up with local Victorian club Greensborough.
The Northern Football Netball League outfit confirmed the signing of the premiership Magpie on Wednesday, with Mitchell set to feature in Greensborough's season opener against Eltham in April.
Set to run out in green alongside his brother Will, the local level showing is expected to be Mitchell's first on the field since calling time on his decorated 207-game career.
"The Greensborough Football Club could not be more excited to confirm Tom Mitchell will pull on the Boro jumper for Round 1, featuring in our season-opening Good Friday clash with Eltham Football Club," a club post read.
"Tom arrives with an elite AFL résumé, including a Brownlow Medal, multiple All Australian honours, three Hawthorn Best and Fairest awards, and an AFL premiership with Collingwood. His experience, leadership, and professionalism will provide a massive boost to our playing group as we launch the 2026 campaign.

"Adding another exciting layer to the day, Tom will line up alongside our major off-season signing Will Mitchell, his brother, in what promises to be a special moment for both the Mitchell family and the Boro."
Mitchell played four games for Collingwood last year as he battled both injury and form issues before being delisted by the Magpies.
He brings a wealth of experience to the grassroots level, having claimed the AFLPA MVP title in 2018, as well as two All-Australian selections and three best and fairests in his time in the top flight.
Greensborough's Round 1 clash against Eltham is scheduled for Friday, April 3, at War Memorial Park. The Boro finished second on the NFNL Division 1 ladder last year before bowing out in the finals to Hurstbridge.
