Werribee premiership coach James Allan has joined St Kilda for the 2026 season, overseeing the backline group.
Following a decorated playing career in the SANFL for North Adelaide and Norwood, Allan turned his attention to coaching, and the Tigers' opportunity came knocking.
Allan coached the standalone club for the past two seasons, and helped break a 31-year premiership drought, resulting in becoming the VFL coach of the Year.
In 2025, Werribee was unable to replicate their previous campaign's success, missing out on the finals, but unearthed a host of exciting football talents.
Under Allan's tutelage, five players (Jack Henderson, Aidan Johnson, Riley Bice, Zac Banch and Flynn Young) were drafted to the AFL, showcasing his strong development skills and readiness for the top flight.

As for the Saints, they get a seasoned football character who knows what it takes to win, but also develops a group.
"We're really pleased to welcome Jimmy and his family to St Kilda," St Kilda CEO Carl Dilena said.
"We're proud to have one of the most highly credentialed coaching panels in the competition, and we believe with his skills and experience, Jimmy will fit nicely into the environment we've established."
Prior to his coaching stints, Allan was a three-time Magarey Medallist, five best and fairest winner and a premiership player among his many accomplishments during his South Australian playing days.
The Allan acquisition comes as the Saints enter a new era following their ultra-aggressive trade period, which landed them four rival players.
He replaces Jared Rivers, who took up an assistant position at Melbourne under Steven King.
