Brisbane has announced the extension of important utility Darcy Gardiner, who has penned a one-year deal.
Gardiner first joined the Lions following his selection at Pick 22 in the 2013 National Draft, coming through the Geelong Falcons.
The 29-year-old has played 179 games, but sadly missed the club's premiership triumph last year.
Gardiner featured in the 2023 AFL Grand Final, which the Lions lost to Collingwood.
Brisbane is set to embark on its flag defence after claiming third spot, in which Gardiner has been a crucial contributor after overcoming his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
"It's a privilege to play on for a 13th season, and I am very fortunate to be at a successful club where it feels like one big family that has a lot of fun," Gardiner said.
"To be regularly playing finals is certainly something I don't take for granted, especially after not playing finals for the first half of my career.
"My focus now is to keep putting a lot of time into staying fit and healthy so I can be out there and ready to go whenever the team needs.
"And as a team, it's all about playing consistent football and achieving the ultimate.
"Our hunger certainly hasn't wavered after last year, so I can't wait to see what the rest of this season and next year have in store for us."
Gardiner's re-signing comes shortly after veteran Dayne Zorko recommitted to the 2026 season.
Brisbane GM of Football Danny Daly acknowledged the level of "professionalism and dedication" Gardiner has shown, especially after his ACL injury.
"It's fantastic to see Darcy sign a new contract, and he definitely deserves it for what he has contributed and overcome," Daly said
"To overcome an ACL injury last year and to play 14 games this season says a lot about his professionalism and dedication.
"Darcy has been an important player for us for many seasons and is also very respected by his teammates and staff at the club.
"We look forward to having Darcy, his wife Sophie and their families continue to be part of the Brisbane Lions."
