Carlton has welcomed back midfielder Elijah Hollands to the club after an extended break due to personal reasons.

Hollands took indefinite leave in March this year for a personal matter, delaying the start of the 23-year-old's campaign with the Blues, before making his way through the VFL.

The former Sun returned to Michael Voss' side in Round 6, and after playing five games, he stepped away from the club again.

However, according to Channel 7's Xander McGuire, Hollands has been seen at IKON Park in a bid to play football before the season is completed.

"Elijah Hollands has returned to the Carlton Football Club after taking two and a half months away to deal with personal issues," McGuire said.

"Hollands, who is contracted until the end of next year, is currently training with the VFL program as Carlton prepares for its final AFL games of the season.

"It is understood the Blues are keen to integrate Hollands into some sort of match play at some level in the coming weeks, before season 2025 comes to a close."

Carlton's VFL side has two weeks remaining in its season after failing to qualify for finals. They will take on Gold Coast and the Footscray Bulldogs.

Hollands has played 27 games for Carlton since switching from Gold Coast at the end of 2023, missing two games to start his maiden season in navy blue after being found in possession of an illicit substance.

He would go on to play every other game under Voss that year, including a role in the Blues' elimination final against Brisbane.
