Carlton could reportedly consider the trade value of star key forwards Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay, as incoming Chief Executive Officer and "agent of change" Graham Wright is set to take the reins in July.
Wright, currently the deputy CEO at the club, was meant to transition into Brian Cook's role in October, once the AFL season had ended, however it has been reported that Wright will actually begin his role as CEO in July.
The former Hawthorn and Collingwood list boss is known to be cutthroat with his decision-making, but it has resulted in reaching the pinnacle of AFL success at both the Hawks and Pies.
Wright was a part of Hawthorn in their three-peat era, while he made the call for Nathan Buckley's sacking and hiring of Craig McRae, which led to the 2023 Magpies premiership.
Journalist Damian Barrett expects Wright to be no different at Carlton, suggesting big-name players are not safe from being considered in trade offers by rival clubs.
This includes Curnow and McKay, despite both having multiple years remaining on their current deals.
"I just want to put up the possibility that one of McKay and Curnow may also be discussed," Barrett said on Triple M.
"They're both on long-term contracts, and again, the party line will be 'We're not going to entertain it', but Graham Wright is an agent of change. He did it with the coaching at Collingwood when he was there.
"It's more than whispers. If a club wanted to seriously put a proposal to Carlton, it would be privately considered."
Carlton are reportedly resigned to the fact star ruckman Tom De Koning will be departing for St Kilda this off-season, according to Barrett, with the Blues unable to match the mammoth contract offered by the Saints.
Curnow and McKay are contracted until 2029 and 2030, respectively.
