Collingwood champion Scott Pendlebury looks poised to be sent to the half-backline in 2026, while defender Isaac Quaynor could be pushed further up the field.
Coach Craig McRae continues to tinker with players' positions in a bid to create the perfect blend.
After a gruesome Wednesday session that saw the entire squad on the track except Bobby Hill, Zac McCarthy and Beau McCreery (bike), the Pies underwent a match simulation for close to 30 minutes.
With a midfield mix that involved draftees Tyan Prindable and Sam Swadling, Pendlebury placed himself across half-back, utilising his vision and organisational skills to set up his team.
What observers noticed was the 37-year-old's ability to set up the ground to manipulate the opposition, which caused multiple turnovers.
As for Quaynor, throughout the morning, he spent time in midfield-based drills, learning to rove the taps of ruckmen Darcy Cameron and Oscar Steene, as well as working on his positioning in the contest.
Roan Steele's impressive pre-season continued, locking down one of the wing positions alongside Steele Sidebottom.
Not participating in the match simulation were Dan Houston, Josh Daicos and Reef McInnes, who completed shuttle runs along the boundary.
There's also a watch on dashing defender Tew Jiath, who was limping from the field midway through the session and didn't return to the track.
Collingwood's last training session of the year comes a day following McRae's contract extension, adding two years to his deal to be locked away until the end of 2028.
