Footy fans are more blessed than any other in the world of sport.

No sport combines such astonishing physical feats with such chills of euphoria, heartbreak, and everything in between the way Aussie Rules does.

A simple kick through the big sticks can swing the mood of fanbases around the country for an entire week, while an Anzac Day speccy can drop the jaws of a nation for a fleeting moment.

2024 has already provided its fair share of thrilling plays, profound performances and memorable matches, this list will go through only a fraction of them during the season so far.

Here is our mid-year list of the top 10 moments of 2024...

Honourable Mentions:

  • Jack Higgins' game-sealing out-of-bounds bomb (Round 2 vs Collingwood)
  • Richmond hold on for first win under Adem Yze (Round 3 vs Sydney)

3. Harry McKay mutes his mental demons

  • Opening Round (Brisbane vs Carlton)

Partially drowned out by the widespread lashing of the Opening Round concept, this moment came in what may still hold up as the match of the season so far.

Brisbane led by 46 points halfway through the second term. 14 minutes into the third, Carlton hit the front.

The two sides played out a war of attrition, the lead going back and forth through third and fourth quarters, before the ball found the hands of Harry McKay with a contested grab and less than two minutes remaining.

Battling goalkicking demons all of 2023, this was the chance for Harry to display his resilience to the football world.

Cool as ice, McKay slotted the set-shot, avenging the preliminary final defeat of 2023, kicking off Carlton's season with a profound statement, and sending the Lions into a 2024 slump.
