The player from every club set to breakout in 2021

Adelaide Darcy Fogarty The Crows young gun played just the 10 matches in 2020, just as many as his debut season two years prior, but it was his 2019 campaign that showed plenty of promise albeit from four matches. The 21-year-old is just waiting to explode and with an uninterrupted pre-season and a fresh start at West Lakes, Fogarty looks to be the one to take major steps in 2021. Brisbane Cam Rayner The Lions are nearing a Grand Final birth and they will need every player to step up when called upon. After being taken with the first pick in the 2017 National Draft, and while he hasn't hit the strides many would have thought he may have by now, Rayner remains to have plenty of upside and potential to lift another gear or two. Carlton Will Setterfield A highly-touted top five draft selection that struggled to crack into the Giants' senior side before a move south to the Blues. Setterfield played just the two games with the Giants and has since earned 34 senior games with Carlton in two seasons, building his development and seniority at the top level. Now entering his fourth season and seen as a key figure in the Blues' push for the top eight, Setterfield will be called upon to take his game to a new level next year and the 22-year-old is ready for the next challenge. Collingwood Isaac Quaynor An exciting young product who is surrounded by a wealth of experience and skill in Collingwood's back-third. Quaynor transitioned into a key role player for the Magpies in just his second season at the Holden Centre, with his current trajectory predicting a very quick rise in his stocks. (Photo by Dylan Burns/AFL Photos via Getty Images)[/caption] With plenty of competition come selection night at Collingwood, if Quaynor can tie down a spot in Nathan Buckley's back-line, he'll be a dynamic asset for the club and a shining prospect for the future. Essendon Sam Draper After much anticipation and deliberation, Draper finally got his chance to shine for the Bombers' AFL side and he looks to be their answer to their prolonged ruck dilemma. Draper played eight games game after making his debut in Round 9 and averaged close to 20 hitouts in his rookie season. Fremantle Griffin Logue Logue has had an injury-plagued start to his career, but the Dockers defender has shown a great ability in the air and by foot in his 28 games with the club. The 22-year-old was in great form until his season was brought to an abrupt ending after Round 5 and will look to return to his role with a full pre-season under his belt. (Photo by Paul Kane/Getty Images)[/caption] With Luke Ryan having an All-Australian calibre season and Alex Pearce also set to return from injury, Logue is primed to form an impenetrable defence under Justin Longmuir. Geelong Jordan Clark The addition of Isaac Smith had a number of fans worried for the future Cats speedster, but the hunger has only increased for the young gun after an injury-riddled campaign. With Chris Scott set to move the magnets for the 2021 season, there certainly could be an opening for Clark, an opportunity he is set to hold onto with a firm grip. Gold Coast Izak Rankine The Suns have a plethora of young talent and neophytes that are set to lead their club to the top eight in the near future, and Rankine perhaps has the biggest x-factor between the whole crop. The South Australian excitement machine proved to be a match-winner for Gold Coast in his first handful of games this year and looks set to take a big step in 2021, starting from Round 1. Greater Western Sydney Jake Riccardi The Giants high-flyer burst onto the scene in 2020, booting nine goals from his first five matches at AFL level. With Jeremy Cameron's departure opening a major void in GWS's forward line and their midfield set to be as dominant as ever, Riccardi is primed to take on a significant role under Leon Cameron and thrive under the circumstances. Hawthorn Mitch Lewis Unfortunately the tall forward took a step backwards in 2020, but if there's one member of this exciting young Hawks squad that is set to breakout, it's Lewis. The 22-year-old played 12 games in 2019 and booted 20 goals for his efforts and will hope that 2020 was somewhat of a blip in his rise up the ranks. https://twitter.com/7AFL/status/1120199387735416837 Alastair Clarkson will be keen on forming a suitable successor to Jack Gunston and no doubt Lewis can be that man. Melbourne Luke Jackson With the addition of Ben Brown to the Demons' arsenal, Jackson is set to offload some of the pressure that was mounted on his shoulders in his first season. With Sam Weideman sidelined throughout the year, Jackson was called on as a No.1 forward target for Melbourne and at times impressed in the role. North Melbourne Luke Davies-Uniacke Already a key figure in the Kangaroos' midfield, now is the time for LDU to make his make his mark on the rest of the competition. After an interrupted start to his 2020 campaign, Davies-Uniacke was one of North Melbourne's best performers in the second half of the season and will hope to take that run of form into next year. (Photo by Quinn Rooney/Getty Images)[/caption] Despite the reduced duration of quarters lengths, LDU saw a significant rise in disposals, tackles, inside 50's and clearances per game this season and looks set to gain more midfield minutes in 2021. Port Adelaide Mitch Georgiades The Port Adelaide young gun was able to have a major impact on the scoreboard for a premiership contending side all in his first seven games at AFL level. Georgiades surpassed expectations in 2020 and will be looking to eclipse Todd Marshall to become Charlie Dixon's partner in crime. Richmond Jack Ross Ross has played 14 games across the past two years, split evenly between the two seasons for a club that is currently eyeing a third-straight premiership. The small onballer has shown plenty of promise under Damien Hardwick and could be the next young Tiger to burst onto the scene in rapid time. (Photo by Mark Brake/Getty Images)[/caption] A strong accumulator of the ball despite being down the bottom end of Richmond's midfield rotation, collecting double-digits for disposals in every match this season and amassed a career-high 28 touches against the Demons last year. St Kilda Jack Higgins The only newcomer on our list. Higgins is set to thrive in his new environment as the Saints look set to impress once again after a busy off-season. With the meteoric rise of Dan Butler in 2020, there's very little reason why Higgins cant follow suit and take on a large piece of the pie of St Kilda's forward structure. Sydney Nick Blakey A slow start to his second season in the league was a minor cause for concern for 'The Lizard', but the way he finished his 2020 campaign proved to regain the faith in the exciting forward. With the occasional move up the ground, Blakey was able to find the ball more often and soon found his confidence once again. West Coast Liam Duggan The 24-year-old took a major step in 2020 in a more senior role under Adam Simpson and will now look to 2021 to certify his place as a key contributor to the Eagles' ball movement going forward. Western Bulldogs Patrick Lipinski No midfield group will be harder to break into than the Bulldogs' engine room, with Luke Beveridge's options overflowing ahead of the 2021 season. Now entering his fifth season in the AFL and already showing strong numbers so far, 2021 could be the years this young pup turns into a deadly hound.
