Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks has lauded his side for an "even, balanced" performance against the Sydney Swans, however, highlighted one key area of the game that aided in the Crows' 90-point thrashing result.

Nicks indicated that, despite the wet weather-like conditions on a dewy SCG deck, the Crows' ability to intercept was a major facet that led to the resounding win.

Adelaide recorded 80 intercept possessions on the night, 11 higher than their already league-leading average of 69 per game, as an individual effort of 15 intercepts, eight of which were marks, by Mark Keane was notable.

The ability to win intercepts bodes well for the Crows, as they average 64.5 points per game off turnover, and that strength of theirs was evident on Saturday night.

"It was probably the intercept game that was the key," Nicks said.

"It was wet weather footy, which is interesting, considering such a nice day, but it was the dew on the grass that made it a wet weather game.

"I thought  we were really strong off the intercept and we gave Sydney no chance to score on us when we made mistakes and turned the ball over. And then I thought we went back at them really well, and obviously we converted well in the end.

"I don't know exactly what the score was, but our ability to put the ball through the goals and that scoreboard pressure just adds up and up as the game goes on, so really pleasing that our forwards and midfielders are able to finish our work."
