The rumour mill has gone into overdrive following claims from veteran journalist Caroline Wilson that an AFL "comeback is on the cards" for retired Richmond champion Alex Rance.
With someone as full a resume as Rance has, the five-time All Australia would certainly be in demand should his services become available.
If Rance did indeed decide to return to the AFL, we've counted down the five most realistic landing spots.
Do you agree with our five?
2. Fremantle
When asked about his retirement, Rance said the one of the main reasons was to spend more time with his family. With the 30-year old originally from Western Australia, Fremantle looks to be the ideal destination for him to focus on family and football.
On the football side, new Dockers coach Justin Longmuir has implemented a defence-focused game style that would allow Rance every chance to return to All-Australian form. Rumours have spread in recent weeks that key defender Joel Hamling is set for an imminent departure from Fremantle and Rance would be a ready-made replacement.
Rance could also be a potential mentor to the exciting young back six they are forming, with a potential two to three year contract leading to benefits for the Dockers years down the line.
Rance is a different cat and joining Freo seems right down his alleyway, while the Eagles likely could not compete with their rival's potential offer.
Like with the Suns, the opportunity to help try and lead a club to their first premiership could be a pull, especially one based in his home state.
