Richmond coach Adem Yze hasn't shied away from the possibility of inviting former star Tiger Dustin Martin back into the club's four walls, adding fuel to the conversation that the three-time Norm Smith medallist could return to Punt Road in a coaching or mentorship capacity.
Martin was sighted inside Richmond clubrooms pre-game to the Tigers' clash with North Melbourne in Round 10, while Seven's Caroline Wilson stated that Martin could return to football in some capacity in the near future.
While that is highly unlikely to be a return to playing, there have been suggestions Martin could be a solid mentor to aid Richmond's skill woes this season.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Yze made an open invitation to Martin if the 33-year-old was considering helping Richmond.
"I was really interested when I read that (the reports)," Yze said.
"He has popped his head in, he came into the footy club a few weeks ago and obviously came to the game the other night... He's an amazing Richmond man, but not only that, he's such a smart player, and he could be a coach.
"He would hate being in here and presenting, but out there, the things that he could teach and coach our younger forwards would be stuff that we can't coach.
"The door's always open for him, depending on what he wants to do in his future. If he wanted to become a mentor or wanted to be a skills coach, he'd be more than welcome. If he does decide to go down that path, we'd love him to obviously have our colours on, but if he does do that, he'd have such a good impact on a lot of young players.
"How small that is or how big that is could be up to him."
The 2017 Brownlow medallist is known as arguably the AFL's best big-game player, winning three Norm Smith medals across Richmond's dynasty across three premierships in four years.
Retiring in 2024, the 302-game superstar was rumoured to link up with former coach Damien Hardwick at the Gold Coast Suns; however has remained loyal to the yellow and black faithful and held true to his retirement word thus far.
The Tigers take on GWS in Sydney on Saturday.
