Tasmania's AFL recruiting team have confirmed they'll 'consider' making a play for Collingwood superstar Nick Daicos if his management keeps the door open for the midfielder to potentially head south in the future.

Daicos himself decided against ruling out a move to the Devils when the competition's 19th club joins the league, recently telling The Age he could be open to joining Tasmania.

While the 22-year-old remains focused on his football with Collingwood, who he is contracted to until the end of 2029, Daicos' recent comments caught the attention of the Devils' list management team.

List manager Todd Patterson is set to speak with Daicos' manager Robbie D'Orazio as the pair, and other key list figures across the competition, reside in Queensland this week for the U16s National Championships.

The Devils recruiter confirmed to SEN that Tasmania will be seeking "what was behind that comment" from Daicos as the club begins to plan its hitlist ahead of its hopeful arrival for the 2028 season.

"It was an interesting one, wasn't it? Didn't see it coming but it hasn't hurt us," Patterson said of Daicos' comments.

"Every big player manager in the country is [in Queensland] this week. I'll be going to have those discussions. Robbie D'Orazio, he'll be someone I'll be having discussions with this week to understand what was behind that comment, and if that's something we should be considering and looking into further and providing more information.

"That'll be one of many, many conversations and there's been lots of options and possibilities that have come out of our manager meetings for the last two or three weeks.

"There's a reasonable level of appetite, but it's been able to turn that appetite into actual acquisition."

The Devils are set to target both local and interstate talent in a bid to form a list ready to contend in their inaugural season.

A part of their pitch to players is their dossier, which highlights the advantages of joining the Devils and living in Tasmania.

Patterson said the dossier gives players and those around them a clear picture of what Tasmania has to offer.

"It's just showing them what Tassie has got to offer from a lifestyle and opportunity perspective," Patterson added.

"What I think happens a lot is the player will meet with their manager and they'll be given a lot of information. All of a sudden, there's a thought process; 'I might move clubs'.

"That can be overwhelming... and then they go home and their family or their partner will have a series of questions. The purpose of the book is really just to answer some of those questions, and give them insight into what the opportunities are and what it could look like.

"It's just to whet the appetite, and it will evolve."
