The Banner Man has struck again, with two topical banners that are sure to get football fans chuckling at tonight's game.

Danny McGinlay has once again earned his nickname as The Banner Man using his skills as a comedian and perhaps as a poet, to create Banners for the Western Bulldogs and the Adelaide Crows tonight.

The game promises to be a good one, with both teams entering off of wins in Round 1. Last season the Crows beat the Dogs by 11 points when they faced off in Round 18.

McGinlay's banners often highlight tensions between the teams, however this time he has gone for a more universal approach, choosing to pull out current events and classic Aussie references, in his trademark rhyming humour.

Adelaide's banner may hit close to home for several fans, as it playfully mentions that the Crows will fly as high as the price of crude oil. With petrol prices sitting at an average of 239.9 cents per litre in Adelaide at the moment, this call-out is sure to cause widespread, if somewhat, rueful amusement.

If the reminder of how much it will cost to fill up your car this week left a bad taste in your mouth, the Bulldog's banner is sure to remove that, with its reference to the democracy sausage. This classic Australian delicacy is offered up to Adelaide fans by the Bulldogs as a substitute for the taste of victory. While it may not be quite as sweet, it's not a bad consolation prize.
