It would be fair to say that the Ashcrofts don't know how to lose.

Following Brisbane's triumphant 47-point grand final win on Saturday, Levi Ashcroft joined older brother, Will, and father, Marcus, as an AFL premiership player.

It takes the tally among the family to six top-flight flags.

Saturday's performance is added to the 2024 victory over Sydney that Will was a crucial part of, as well as Marcus' three-peat two decades ago.

The eldest son also added another piece of silverware to his cabinet, securing a second consecutive Norm Smith Medal for his efforts on the biggest day on the AFL calendar, in just his third season.

Levi joins a unique group of players who won a premiership in their maiden season. He did it with teammates Sam Marshall and Ty Gallop, and joins the likes of Cyril Rioli, Logan Morris, Marlion Pickett, Jack Graham, Joel Selwood, Sean Dempster and Allen Christensen.

This was also his fourth consecutive flag, playing in three Sandringham Dragon premierships in the Coates Talent League from 2022 to 2024, including one as a 15-year-old with Will.

So where do they rank among the AFL's greatest football families?

It's safe to say the Abletts take the cake, with Gary Ablett Snr and Jr regarded as some of the best players to ever pull on a guernsey.

The Daicos', led by Peter and followed by Josh and Nick, have made their claims as rivals for the top of the mantle.

Then could come the Riewoldts (Jack and Nick), as well as the Riolis (Daniel, Willie, Cyril, Maurice Snr and Jr), the Selwoods (Joel, Troy, Adam and Scott), the Danihers (Terry, Anthony, Chris, Neale and Joe), the Kennedys (John Sr and Jr, Josh), the Shaws (Heath, Ray, Rhyce, Tony, Neville) the Watsons (Tim and Jobe), and the Hudsons (Peter and Paul).

The Ashcrofts, combining for six premierships, 403 games, and plenty of individual accolades, are continuing to shoot up the ranks.

And there could be a third set to join the top flight, as daughter Lucy has emerged as an exciting prospect, and is part of Brisbane's Academy program. She is draft eligible in 2027.
