After the completion of the AFL 2025 season, there's no doubt fans saw players across the league have an improved year compared to what they have had in the past. Some players were expected to improve, while some came out of nowhere, but all were among the AFL's top improvers.

In this piece, we go through our most improved players of 2025. From 34-year-olds to second-year players, along with some of the top players our game has to offer, the league saw a range of players take big steps.

We have named 12 players who deserve to be recognised for their outstanding improvement in 2025.

1Riley Thilthorpe

Riley Thilthorpe has become one of the better key forwards in the AFL.

He was definitely one of the more improved players in 2025 with his ability to win one-on-one contests and his vital role in Adelaide's scoring power.

The big forward was ranked as one of the best players in the AFL throughout the year due to his impact on his team and impact on winning games.

After missing some time in 2024, Thilthorpe delivered a full season in 2025, during which he was able to kick 60 goals for the season, seeing him earn his first All-Australian selection.
