When Zero Digital Sports was first founded in December of 2014, it was probably not in anyone's wildest imagination that we'd still be sitting here a decade later with millions of Australians consuming our content every month.

Dating back to the end of 2014 - a period which fell right in the middle of Essendon's supplements saga, and just months after Hawthorn collected their second of three straight premierships - much has happened in the football world.

From legends and teams etching their names into the history books, to scandals, tragedies, and shocks, the past 10 years alone have been filled with memorable and infamous moments - both on and off the field.

So, without further ado, here are 10 of the biggest stories since the inception of Zero Digital Sports in December 2014.

3. Hawthorn complete three-peat

The gold and brown era of dominance reached its peak between 2013 and 2015, as the Hawks completed a remarkable three-peat for the first time in club history.

Despite Hawthorn's success in the 1970s and '80s, the Hawks had never achieved the legendary feat, which was only accomplished prior in the AFL era by the Brisbane Lions in 2001-03.

The AFL is no stranger to dynasties this century, though, with Geelong and Richmond all winning multiple flags in a short amount of time, but apart from the Lions, no team has managed to succeed at the consistent level of the Hawks.

Hawthorn's first premiership of the 2010s decade followed a heartbreaking 2012 grand final loss to the Swans. Spurred on by the angst of losing to Sydney, the Hawks pulled through a tense match against Fremantle by 15 points.

The odds of winning a second flag seemed to worsen, however, when the Hawks lost their star forward Lance Franklin to their modern rival, Sydney.

A major injury toll to key players, as well as Alastair Clarkson falling seriously ill, kept Hawthorn battling. Yet, Clarkson weaved his magic in the background, rejigging the forward line to give Jarryd Roughead greater responsibility, as the likes of Luke Hodge, Sam Mitchell, and Jordan Lewis continued to thrive in their prime years.

Hawthorn would meet minor premiers Sydney yet again in the grand final, this time with an old friend and star player in opposing colours. Sydney were fairly strong favourites entering the match, too, but after Josh Kennedy's opening goal, Hawthorn dominated the contest.

The Hawks would romp to a 63-point victory over the Swans, with Hodge winning his second Norm Smith Medal. Bruce McAvaney iconically called: "They've never been better than this!", but somehow the best was still yet to come.

With another year came more speedbumps on the road to premiership success. The Hawks had another strong home and away season, finishing third, but Hawthorn were dismantled by a cohesive West Coast unit in the qualifying final. The Hawks were facing their hardest path to a premiership yet.

A 74-point crushing of Adelaide sent the Hawks back to a fifth consecutive preliminary final appearance before a clutch Cyril Rioli display against the Dockers earned Hawthorn its fourth consecutive Grand Final.

Although Hawthorn entered as favourites, the hot weather forecast was viewed as advantageous for the Eagles. But similarly to 2014's flag, Hawthorn controlled the tempo from the outset, condemning the Eagles to a 46-point loss.

Hawthorn became the first team in the 18-team competition to win three premierships in a row and still remain the only side to achieve that feat, with Richmond's three in four years the closest to emulating the Hawks.
