Hawthorn has decided against offering new deals to Sam Frost and Jasper Scaife following the conclusion of their 2025 campaign.

Frost leaves the Hawks after six years in the brown and gold, with the club being his third at AFL level.

The veteran defender's career started with GWS prior to a move to Melbourne, who would trade the Sandringham Dragons product to Hawthorn ahead of the 2020 season.

Frost played 94 games for the Hawks, including two games in 2025, to bring his career tally to 185 games.

Scaife did not debut for Hawthorn during his 18 months with the club, which he joined as a Mid-Season Draft recruit out of Western Australia.

The tall forward played 27 goals for Box Hill in the VFL during his time in Victoria, booting 45 goals.

“While these sorts of changes happen every year, we'd like to acknowledge Sam and Jasper's maturity throughout the process,” Hawks list manager Mark McKenzie said.

“With 94 games across six seasons, Sam has been a terrific servant of our footy club, and we'd like to wish him, his fiancée Laura, and their daughter Charlotte all the best in their next chapter.

“We'd also like to thank Jasper for his contribution to Hawthorn. He showed great dedication and commitment during his time at the club.”

The Hawks have signalled that further list changes will be made prior to the trade period, potentially adding to the departures of Frost, Scaife and retired champion Luke Breust
