North Melbourne have revealed young gun Colby McKercher has recommitted to the club until the end of 2028.
McKercher, who joined the Kangaroos as the second overall selection in the 2023 AFL Draft, hails from Tasmania and looms as a likely target for the incoming Devils in the future.
With his draft contract set to expire at the end of next year, McKercher has made an early call to extend his stay at Arden Street, inking a two-year extension.
"Colby has made a great start to his AFL career, and his professionalism and dedication have been evident from day one,โ Roos football talent manager Brady Rawlings said.
"He's a key part of our future, and his decision to sign on for another two years speaks volumes about his belief in the direction we're heading as a club.
โWe're incredibly excited to see what he can achieve in the years to come.โ
McKercher has been a mainstay in Alastair Clarkson's side since joining the club, playing 31 games since making his debut in Round 1 last year.
A dashing defender who boasts pace and a clean kick, McKercher's role in Clarkson's rearguard has allowed the likes of Harry Sheezel to play further up the field.
Injury limited the 20-year-old to 16 games last year, with McKercher set to match that total in 2025 this Thursday against the Western Bulldogs.
The re-signing of McKercher follows North Melbourne's retention of Luke Davies-Uniacke (2032), Taylor Goad (2028), Robert Hansen Jr (2026), Matt Whitlock (2027) and Tristan Xerri (2031) this year.
