The Tasmania Devils have continued adding to their budding lists of experienced list builders and recruiters with the latest inclusion of Scott Clayton joining the club.

Clayton recently departed North Melbourne after a lengthy stint at Arden Street, where his role encompassed draft, trade and list management strategy.

The former Fitzroy player helped the Kangaroos secure top-end picks such as Harry Sheezel, Finn O'Sullivan, George Wardlaw, Colby McKercher and Zane Duursma.

Across a span extending beyond 30 years in the industry, Clayton also spent time at Brisbane Bears, Western Bulldogs and Gold Coast Suns, with the latter a key ingredient in determining what the AFL's 19th team will require.

Clayton will join the Devils on a part-time basis as the club's "Future Talent Consultant".

"I have thought a lot about Tasmania's entry into the AFL and AFLW for many years. To see this finally becoming a reality and now to be able to be a part of it from the beginning is a dream come true for me," Clayton said.

"To be a part of the build of a football Club from the start is not an opportunity that comes around often. I am so excited about being able to work with the team to build a football list that will represent our Club and our state with talent, grit and pride."

Devils CEO Brendon Gale acknowledged Clayton's signing as another positive step towards the future for the club.

"Scott is not only one of the most experienced and respected recruiters in the countryโ€”he's one of Tasmania's own," Gale said.

"He understands our football culture, he knows our communities, and he has a proven eye for identifying young talent. We're delighted he's coming home to help lay the foundations of our Club's future."

Clayton follows the signings of experienced campaigners in list builds and recruitment management Derek Hine and Todd Patterson.

Hine spent two decades at Collingwood as the National Recruiter and List Manager, while Patterson was at Melbourne for eight years.
