Sydney Swans captain Callum Mills has spoken on his excitement for the new season and what his side could accomplish in 2026 after returning to training.

After missing the finals for the first time since 2020, Mills and the Swans are ready to get to work.

Mills has had a slightly interrupted career due to injuries, but 2025 was one year he managed to finish the season off uninterrupted and ready to go for pre-season.

"Really exciting, longest break I've had in my career, I know everyone was keen to get back into it, awesome first start," Mills told the media.

"Nice to finish off the year uninterrupted, fingers crossed everything goes well in preseason, I'm feeling really fit."

Mills also discussed the potential of him playing more in the midfield for his role in 2026.

"It would be fun, my versatility will be very helpful for the team," he said.

Recruit Charlie Curnow was on the track with his new squad, with Mills speaking on how well Curnow has fit into the squad.

He also shared the excitement fans should have leading into 2026 about the recruit.

"He fits in really well with the group, and we are really glad to have him. Fits in like a glove," Mills said.

"Fans will like it when his shoulders are back, rocking the SCG."

After finishing 10th in 2025 and missing the finals, and with the new AFL Wildcard Round being implemented in 2026, finishing 10th would mean the Swans would be playing in the AFL finals next year,

"I'm not sure of it to be honest. It's interesting, hopefully fans will enjoy it and we will see how it goes," Mills discussed.

Sydney's 2026 campaign opens on Thursday, March 5 against Carlton at the SCG.
