Sydney depth ruckman Will Green has suffered a foot injury at the MCG on Thursday night after tripping down a set of stairs.

Green was in the stands at the clash between the Swans and Hawthorn, with the latter prevailing by 17 points in a thriller.

The untried tall is set to miss a large chunk of football, with Zero Hanger understanding he broke a bone in his foot.

Green was withdrawn from Friday's VFL match against the Box Hill Hawks and sent for scans on the injured foot.

A timeline has yet to be determined, but will be assessed on his return to Sydney.

It's a major blow to Sydney's tall stocks, with Peter Ladhams also set for time on the sidelines following a mistimed bump in the VFL on Friday against the Box Hill Hawks.

Green joined the Swans in the 2023 draft, taken with Pick 13 from the Northcote Junior Football Club.

Developing under Brodie Grundy, the 204cm prospect has featured exclusively in the reserves over the past two years, playing 36 games in the red and white.

Green has averaged 14.1 hitouts, 9.4 disposals, 3.1 tackles whilst bobbing up for 15 goals during that stretch of matches.

The club was contacted for comment, and is set to provide more details.

It comes as the Swans sent in Errol Gulden for shoulder surgery, while they missed Isaac Heeney's star against the Hawks.

The senior side is set for a bye in Round 3 before returning to face West Coast in Perth.
