Gold Coast senior coach Damien Hardwick has provided an update on star midfielder Touk Miller after he was substituted in the Suns' win against Collingwood with a hamstring injury.

Miller was on track for a stellar performance, collecting 11 disposals, three clearances, and four score involvements in just 24% time on-ground before his untimely setback. Hardwick couldn't be certain on how long his timeline on the sidelines would be, but was hopeful it would only be short-term.

"Touk was on fire early, so that was a significant loss for us," Hardwick said post-game.

"We don't know how bad it is, but obviously he'll have scans in the next couple of days. It's a hamstring, what level we're not too sure.

"He's had a wonderful year, so hopefully it's on the short-term of the spectrum. What we do know is we have some good players at VFL level who will be ready to put their hand up and go."

The Suns' thrilling six-point win was led by their midfield superstars, who held their own in a tough second half, even without Miller on the field. Matthew Rowell in particular imposed himself on the contest in dominant fashion, his 32 disposals, 13 tackles, and 12 clearances all game-highs.

"[Rowell] got a couple of stoppage free kicks... most people say they want to come and watch the very best player and I thought he was outstanding tonight," Hardwick said.

"He had a heap of the ball, a massive tackle count, kicked some really big goals, I thought he was wonderful tonight."

However, Gold Coast will be hopeful Miller's replacement can fill his void strongly over the next fortnight, with the Suns playing two more top four teams; Adelaide next week at Adelaide Oval, before the second Q-Clash of the season at People First Stadium in Round 20.
