The toll from a tough AFL pre-season continues, with North Melbourne youngster River Stevens sent to the hospital after a heavy hit at training.

Tests revealed a broken rib, and no more serious damage, after the collision on Friday.

Stevens was on light duties on the track at Arden St on Monday and will be nursed back into the full program.

The son of club legend Anthony was Pick 67 in the 2024 AFL draft.

The injury came in the same session as a hamstring injury to luckless Kangaroo Brayden George.

George is set to miss at least three weeks of training.
