GWS Giants 8.7 (55) def. by Brisbane 15.14 (104)
Brisbane have continued their perfect season after defeating the GWS Giants by 49-points. Brisbane has played 12 games this season and is yet to lose, sitting at the top of the ladder three games clear.
An inexperienced Giants side were unable to match the pressure of the in form Lions. Nick Shipley was the leading ball winner with 24 disposals. Jye Caldwell (21 disposals), Ian Hill (19) and Jake Stein (19) were also influential for the Giants.
Nick Murray was strong up forward, slotting three of GWS’ eight goals.
Matthew Flynn held his own in the ruck, with 32 hitouts and 18 disposals Flynn put on an impressive performance.
The Giants will travel to TIO Stadium later this week where they will face NT Thunder.
Brisbane remain on the winners list after defeating the Giants. Corey Lyons continues to show off his skills, getting closer and closer to an AFL debut. The young midfielder played an impressive game finishing the day with 38 disposals, 10 marks, nine-clearances and 12 inside 50s.
Archie Thomas dominated the ruck and emerged as the leading goal scorer with four goals. Assisting him in the midfield was Ryan Bastinac and Lewis Taylor who had 29 and 25 touches respectively.
The Lions will enjoy a week off before returning in round 16 where they will host the Gold Coast Suns.
Gold Coast 12.15 (87) def. Redland 6.10 (46)
Gold Coast were fierce in their 41-point win over Redland. The attacking side dominated the first half, allowing their opposition to score just one point in the second term.
Aaron Young starred across the midfield and up forward. The former Port Adelaide player enjoyed three goals off of 25 disposals, as well as 11 inside 50s. Ruckman Tom Nicholls added two goals of his own to the scoreboard on top of fantastic ruck work that saw him finish with 48 hitouts.
It was Michael Rischitelli who led the way in disposals. Collecting 29 touches, Rischitelli worked tirelessly across the ground, doing no harm to his potential senior side selection.
Jordan Murdoch (26 disposals), Jacob Dawson (27), Mitch Riordin (26) and Geroge Horlin-Smith (25) all played their roles and found plenty of the ball.
Gold Coast needs to win again this week if they wish to hold their spot in the top six, with Sydney Uni looming just below them in seventh place.
NT Thunder 10.6 (66) def. by Sydney 12.13 (85)
After a four goal haul in the opening term, Sydney allowed NT back in to the game. With NT Thunder hot on their trail, Sydney kicked into high gear and soared to a 19 point victory.
Ryan Clarke was strong in the midfield. Working tirelessly around the ground, Clarke recorded 35 disposals and took six marks. Also finding plenty of the ball was teammate Kieren Jack who had 29.
Zac Foot and Daniel Menzel presented in front of goal kicking one and two disposals respectively. Ryley Stoddart also performed well for Sydney, racking up 28 touches along with eight marks.
Sydney have the opportunity to place themselves second on the ladder this week when they come up against the equally as strong Southport Sharks.
