St Kilda ruck Rowan Marshall has reportedly requested a trade to the Geelong Cats, according to 9 News' Tom Morris.
The desire to play for the Cats comes on the same day St Kilda officially acquired star free agent Tom De Koning from Carlton.
Marshall holds a reported desire to keep the role of the number one ruck, which he would be unable to achieve in tandem with De Koning.
Geelong reportedly spoke with Marshall in early September about a potential move down the highway amid the talent squeeze at Moorabbin. The Cats' ruck stocks have long been considered to require a boost, with 34-year-old Rhys Stanley evidently no longer the best option for them moving forward following an underwhelming Grand Final performance.
Securing Marshall would instantly bolster Geelong's dynamism with their tall stocks, with Marshall having the capability to present as a legitimate forward target and aerial threat, as well as a dominant ruck.
While not as dominant as his 2023 and 2024 campaigns, Marshall still had another strong season for St Kilda in 2025, averaging 18.6 disposals, 27.3 hitouts and 4.5 marks per game.
