Another game done, another disappointing close loss for St Kilda as Brisbane outlasted the home side at Marvel Stadium.
It's a similar result to previous weeks for the new-look Saints who will be ruing their tight defeats as they sit on a record of 1-3 heading into an early bye next weekend.
St Kilda coach Ross Lyon said Brisbane's engine room "overwhelmed" his midfield in the last quarter.
"In the end I feel like their midfield took the game off us a bit," he said.
"They are the benchmark over the last two years, with their backs to the wall 0-2.
"I thought we had some opportunities early, just our decisions weren't great.
"Ultimately, the difference in the game were our turnovers in our D50, they kicked 4.2 or something and then we have been defending our D50 stoppages really well and they kicked 3.3."
Emerging St Kilda key forward Cooper Sharman started the match in strong form, taking six marks and kicking three goals, but didn't finish the game after suffering a concussion.
However, Lyon said losing Sharman was not the catalyst for the Saints' defeat.
"We missed (Sharman), but (Brisbane) lost one (as well)," he said. "We can't live in that space. No alibi, no excuse, we have to step up.
"I don't think there is anything too dramatic (with Sharman's injury). Players get looked after and he will be back. The bye helps.
"We are all a bit disappointed (by the loss), but having said that I think the foundation is strong to try and improve off. We get the bye and a couple back hopefully over the next few weeks.
"All I know is if we play that level of footy, we are going to win more than our fair share of games. It took a pretty good team to wrestle back over the top of us... so we take confidence from that."
