The Western Bulldogs are reportedly coming after St Kilda defender Callum Wilkie.

The Saints will acquire Carlton duo Tom De Koning and Jack Silvagni, with the latter having met with Luke Beveridge in a bid to bolster the Bulldogs' defence.

However, after missing out on Silvagni, the Footscray club has turned their attention to Wilkie, according to AFL Media.

The All-Australian defender is contracted for the next two seasons, but has been in the spotlight recently due to the Moorabbin club's heavy interest in multiple players around the competition.

St Kilda are in the market for GWS' Leek Aleer, Gold Coast's Sam Flanders, West Coast's Liam Ryan and Hawthorn's Cam Mackenzie.

The Bulldogs' interest comes after another disappointing end to the season, narrowly missing out on the finals.

Despite becoming the competition's best offensive team in 2025, Luke Beveridge's men failed to restrict the opposition, especially the league's best sides.

Western Bulldogs ranked eighth for points against, and only saluted twice against top-nine sides, albeit both were against GWS.

With both Rory Lobb and Liam Jones on the wrong side of 30, combined with the latter's inability to cement a spot in the senior side, it makes sense that Beveridge would eye a player of Wilkie's ilk.

The mix of Jedd Busslinger, James O'Donnell and Lobb failed to contain the brutes around the competition, while Buku Khamis, Ryan Gardner and Nick Coffield were also used sporadically.

Wilkie, who will be 30 next year, is one of the competition's best key defenders.

Throughout 2025, the left-footer competed in 59 defensive one-on-ones and lost only 12, sitting at 20.3 per cent.

That is better than Harris Andrews (28.1 per cent), Sam Collins (23.3), Mark Keane (27.4) and Lobb (30.2).

Wilkie also led the competition's key defenders for disposals and marks, second for rebound 50s, and ninth for intercept possessions.
