The Supplemental Selection Period (SSP) has come to a close, with 16 players earning contracts at AFL clubs for 2026.

A total of 10 clubs have signed train-on players to their 2026 squads, with a further 16 SSP prospects also involved in the pre-season recruitment window, which extended to March 2.

West Coast and Fremantle kicked off proceedings with multiple experienced players.

The Eagles were granted additional list spots by the AFL after being awarded two wooden spoons in the past three years.

Finlay Macrae (Collingwood), Deven Robertson (Brisbane) and Harry Schoenberg (Adelaide) all will continue their AFL careers in Western Australia.

WAFL gun Milan Murdock will also live out his boyhood dream after joining West Coast.

Premiership Pie Mason Cox found his way to the Dockers after his time at Collingwood came to a close.

Joining Cox at Fremantle is Northern Bullants small forward Christopher Scerri. The youngster was plucked from obscurity, rising through the ranks in the VFL before getting an opportunity to excite Justin Longmuir.

The Giants bolstered their defensive stocks, signing former Essendon tall Jayden Laverde to their list.

Carlton and Port Adelaide added a pair of train-ons to their respective lists.

The Blues retained Elijah Hollands after an impressive summer. He was delisted from the club with one year remaining on his contract but was given the opportunity to earn a spot back.

Wade Derksen, former Giant utility, was also welcomed to Ikon Park.

The Power picked up state-league stars Mitch Zadow (East Fremantle) and Balyn O'Brien (Norwood). The Alberton club had two former AFL players, Jaidyn Stephenson and Ted Clohesy, but opted to add Zadow and O'Brien.

Tom Blamires continued a 19-year trend after making his way onto North Melbourne's list.

Blamires was the 2025 Fothergill-Round-Mitchell Medallist (VFL's most promising young player).

Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs have announced player signings on the SSP deadline day following the retirements of premiership players Steven May and James Harmes.

Straight from their respective VFL programs, the Demons picked up key forward Paddy Cross, while the Bulldogs graduated Will Lewis after spending the summer vying for an AFL spot.

Hawthorn beat the deadline to sign Flynn Perez, while Jack Riding and Ethan Stanley missed out.

Richmond added 2025 Western Jets captain Thomas Burton to its group.

Adelaide, St Kilda and Port Adelaide have held over list spots for the Mid-Season Draft.
