The Western Bulldogs are the latest club to join the race for unrestricted Carlton free agent Jack Silvagni.

It has been widely documented that Collingwood has begun its pursuit of the third-generation Blue in a bid to bolster its defensive line, having offered a four-year deal worth around $600,000. It is understood that Carlton has offered a similar deal.

Pies coach Craig McRae admitted to meeting with Silvagni recently.

"I'm confident in saying we'll keep exploring what the best version of us looks like, and when there's free agents available, we'll look at those things," he said on Wednesday.

But the chatter around the much-improved defender has seen the Bulldogs enter conversations, according to the Age, who also need to strengthen their rearguard.

Luke Beveridge's men reign supreme as one of the competition's best scorers in 2025, but as a result of their attacking brand, their defence has slipped, sitting mid-table.

The likes of mainstays James O'Donnell and Rory Lobb have struggled throughout the year, while Liam Jones, Buku Khamis and Jedd Busslinger have all been utilised at times.

The report did indicate that the Bulldogs hadn't tabled an offer to Silvagni, although they are expected to be in the conversation for the Blues' services.
