The Western Bulldogs have confirmed young utility Harvey Gallagher's 2025 season is over due to a foot injury.

Gallagher hasn't played at AFL level since Round 9, and VFL footy since Round 12, with a calf injury keeping him sidelined for the midriff of the year.

A navicular stress injury was detected last week following match simulation, with Harvey meeting a specialist days later to determine the extent of the setback.

The Dogs confirmed on Monday that Gallagher will miss the remainder of the current campaign, joining Cody Weightman (knee) on the sidelines for the rest of the year.

Gallagher had played five games under senior coach Luke Beveridge this year, adding to his 20 appearances from 2024 after making his debut.

Meanwhile, Dogs defender James O'Donnell is a test to face Essendon on Friday night after hurting his ankle in Round 19.

O'Donnell is joined by small forward Arthur Jones (hamstring) in needing to get through training this week to be cleared to play.

The Dogs have made veteran James Harmes available for this weekend after he overcame a recent bout of flu that limited his training.

Midfielder Adam Treloar remains up to six weeks away with his ongoing calf issue, placing his season in some doubt as the Dogs currently sit outside the finals frame.
