St Kilda are confident young midfielder Mattaes Phillipou will play in the Saints' next game after the third-year Saint was subbed out of Sunday's win over Melbourne with a lower calf concern.
Phillipou played just four per cent time on ground for the Alice Springs match, with substitute Jack Carroll brought into the game in his place after he came from the field.
The 20-year-old was assessed for the injury and saw his afternoon brought to an end in the opening term in what was another frustrating setback for the exciting Saint.
With a bye scheduled for Round 13, Phillipou may not miss any further action, with his coach Ross Lyon providing an update on the youngster after his side's 28-point win in the Northern Territory.
"It's pretty simple. Lower calf, minor end," Lyon said of the former top 10 pick. "We think he'll play post-bye.
"He sort of tweaked it at training but was all clear, pretty low-end stuff, they felt it was something they couldn't manage to get back on, but he should be fine."
The Saints have been forced to work with an extensive injury list this year, with Sunday's win being Phillipou's fourth game for the season after overcoming a pre-season foot injury.
Lyon was without Max King (knee), Jack Macrae (lung), Liam Stocker (foot), Paddy Dow (knee), Dougal Howard (hamstring) and Zaine Cordy (pectoral) for the time being.
Small forward Dan Butler played his first game of the year against the Demons, showing no lingering issues from his Achilles injury in the pre-season.
Butler booted a game-high four goals against Melbourne to emerge as one of his side's best in the upset win in what was a pleasing sight for his coach.
"You saw what he brings," Lyon said.
"We can't help that he's had an Achilles (injury), which. we thought was going to be minor, from the first practice game against Port. He had a few false dawns where he'd start and then be three weeks in a moon boot.
"We would've loved him in the week before, but our head of conditioning said he needs another week, so we gave him the extra week.
"He's got good character, he's tough, he works hard without the ball and today he got on the end of a few. We were a better team with him in, so I was pleased for him and the group."
The Saints will have a break this week before facing the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Thursday, June 12.
