As we near the finals, VFL clubs are ramping up their preparations as they look to lock in their spot inside the top 10.

Multiple Sydney veterans put their hand up for senior selection, while Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge has some decisions to make ahead of next week's clash against Melbourne.

Footscray Bulldogs (91) def. GWS (50)

A trifecta of goals from emerging Western Bulldogs forwards Jordan Croft and Josh Dolan led the way in the 41-point victory.

Defender Nick Coffield was immense in the win, gathering 25 touches and 10 marks.

Ruckman Lachlan Smith dominated with 40 hit-outs and six clearances, while veteran James Harmes amassed 31 possessions in a bid to return to the senior side.

Liam Jones performed well after being left out of Luke Beveridge's side, as did wingman Sam Davidson.

Jacob Wehr and Josh Fahey were the Giants' best, while ruckman Nick Madden battled willfully against Smith.

Southport Sharks (53) def. by Box Hill Hawks (97)

Hawthorn had a host of strong performers who put their names up for selection consideration.

Max Ramsden kicked 3.3 as a back-up ruck, whilst also collecting 16 touches and four clearances.

Changkuoth Jiath pressed his claim for Thursday's clash against Collingwood by gathering 24 disposals and nine marks, as did Cam Mackenzie (28 possessions and five clearances).

The Sharks were no match for the Hawks, although efforts by Will Sexton and Michael Manteit were noticeable.

The pair combined for 53 possessions and 22 marks, while Manteit slotted a goal.

Wylie Buzza and Taine Dawson both pitched in with two majors.

Sydney (100) def. Essendon (65)

Sydney utility Aaron Francis booted three goals to ensure the Bombers were unable to get close.

Veteran midfielder Taylor Adams was pivotal in the victory, gathering 32 touches, 12 clearances, eight tackles and a goal.

Matt Roberts was equally as impressive, recording 31 disposals and seven marks.

Emerging Essendon ruckman Vigo Visentini performed well in the defeat, producing 34 hit-outs, 13 touches and four clearances.

Ex-Crow Jackson Hately was influential through the midfield, 27 possessions, nine clearances and eight tackles.

Gold Coast (78) def. Richmond (61)

Suns forward Malcolm Rosas Jr slotted four goals in the close victory over Richmond.

Axed tall Jed Walter bobbed up with two majors, but could've had more, while veteran David Swallow (36 possessions, eight clearances and six tackles) and Leo Lombard (31 touches and eight tackles) were immense.

Ruckman Ned Moyle utilised his deft tap work to help find his teammates as Pick 1 prospect Zeke Uwland was comfortable at the level, gathering 17 disposals and a goal.

Fellow draft prospect Sam Grlj was arguably Richmond's best in the loss, after amassing 18 possessions and six tackles.

Defenders Josh Gibcus and Jacob Blight were strong down in the backline, with the former building towards an AFL return from an ACL injury.

Coburg Lions (86) def. by Brisbane (112)

A trio of Brisbane players slotted three goals each, which ultimately kept Coburg at bay.

Ty Gallop, along with Fergus McFadyen and Curtis McCarthy, all found the big sticks, as did Reece Torrent and Will McLachlan.

Deven Robertson was dominant, collecting 30 possessions, nine marks and seven tackles.

Kyle Weightman kicked three goals for Coburg, while Mitch Podhajski, Matthew Allison, Jesse Corigliano and Ryan Valentine contributed pairs each.

Ex-Pie Jack Bytel continued his strong form with 29 possessions and six clearances, as did Joel Trudgeon (25 touches, eight tackles and seven clearances) and Donovan Toohey (31 disposals and four marks).

Williamstown Seagulls (97) def. by Collingwood (108)

MSD Noah Howes' four goals were the standout performance in Collingwood's narrow win over Williamstown.

Finlay Macrae was impressive, gathering 26 touches and three clearances, while fellow on-baller Harry DeMattia continues his strong form with 22 possessions and six clearances.

Veteran Mason Cox was pivotal in the win, recording 29 hit-outs, five clearances, 11 disposals and a goal.

Seagulls forward Brodie McLaughlin's 5.3 effort wasn't enough to drag his side over the line.

The same can be said for Toby Triffet, who kicked two majors along with 31 disposals and 11 clearances.

Luke Parks recorded 19 marks, and was joined by Jake Greiser (15 marks), Joel Fitzgerald, (12) and Finn O'Dwyer (10)

Port Melbourne Borough (115) def. Northern Bullants (71)

Archi Manton's five-goal effort was enough to secure the victory for Port Melbourne over fellow non-affiliate VFL club Northern Bullants.

Ex-Bomber Dyson Heppell was instrumental in the win, collecting 35 possessions and nine marks.

Tom Hird's form has been impressive of late and has continued with 25 disposals and a goal, while former Bulldog Charlie Clarke contributed with a pair of majors.

Dominic Bedendo and Jimmy Miller also added two goals.

Despite it being a tough day for the Bullants rucks, John Jorgensen impacted elsewhere, slotting two goals from 21 touches and 10 marks.

Jean-Luc Velissaris gathered 33 disposals and four marks, as well as a goal, while Caleb Franks claimed seven clearances and 20 touches.

Frankston Dolphins (98) def. Carlton (74)

A trio of goals from Dolphins duo George Grey and Noah Gown helped end Carlton's season.

After a BOG performance last week, Tom Blamires backed it up with 28 disposals, seven tackles and five clearances.

Former Adelaide defender Will Hamill collected 25 possessions and five tackles.

Ex-Hawk Denver Grainger-Barras slotted three goals for the Blues, as did Dane Harvey.

Alex Cincotta was one of Carlton's best, picking up 19 touches, 12 tackles and three clearances.

Youngster Harry Charleson and Billy Wilson were influential in the four-goal loss.

Sandringham Zebras (129) def. North Melbourne (106)

St Kilda's work on Darcy Wilson as an inside midfielder is beginning to pay off, gathering 33 possessions, 15 clearances and 1.3.

Mattaes Phillipou and Paddy Dow were pivotal through the centre, combining for 45 touches and 12 clearances.

Tobie Travaglia did some nice work in the shootout, as VFL-listed players Jez Rigoni and Jonah Campagli added seven goals between them.

North Melbourne has almost no choice but to hand Geordie Payne a debut after slotting six goals in the defeat.

Will Phillips and Bailey Scott found plenty of the ball while Taylor Goad and Finbar Maley performed well as the Kangaroos' big men.
