North Melbourne's grand final dominance has been described as "the best footy I've ever seen in AFLW" by Brisbane coach Craig Starcevich, whose side fell to a record-breaking Roos outfit.

The Kangaroos claimed a 30-point win over the Lions at IKON Park on Saturday night to become the first club in V/AFL and AFLW history to go through an entire campaign without losing a match.

North Melbourne's prolific premiership run came as coach Darren Crocker led the league's best attack and defence from the offset, with a draw against Geelong in week two the only minor blip.

Saturday's performance against the reigning premiers capped off a strong finals run, with the Roos keeping the Lions to just one goal for the game and just two behinds after the first break.

North Melbourne's veteran presence of Emma Kearney, Ash Riddell and Jasmine Garner led the way in the season decider, with the latter named best-afield after recording 35 disposals 13 tackles and 10 clearances.

Alice O'Loughlin and Vikki Wall combined for five of the Kangaroos' six goals in the onslaught, with Tess Craven opening proceedings with the first major of the night.

The Roos had a 17-point lead before Brisbane managed to kick their first - and only - goal through Ellie Hampson, with North Melbourne's stingy defence and efficient ball work quickly putting Starcevich's hopes of successive premierships to bed.

Speaking after the match, the Brisbane coach could only credit North Melbourne's performance, stating he hadn't come up against an opponent at that level in his time as coach.

"We got to the grand final in pretty good shape. So that's, not galling, but more credit to the Kangas," Starcevich said.

"I'm one of the coaches that's been there from the inception. What I saw in the first half today (from the Kangaroos) was the best footy I've ever seen in AFLW, to be honest.

"We were on the receiving end just trying to just keep our heads above water to be competitive, but they were awesome.

"Their pressure and their quick decision ball use was phenomenal. It was very difficult to hang on."

Crocker said the expectation of seeing out an undefeated seasn played heavily on his mind in the build-up to the game, however, he kept his concerns close to his chest.

"I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a bit of weight of expectation coming into tonight," Crocker said.

"I would never have said it to the players or to the people around me, but to go through a season undefeated to this point, to have made a Grand Final last year and be in front at three-quarter time and get overrun. I must admit, I felt like there was a little bit of pressure.

"For me, it's a sense of relief."

The premiership is North Melbourne's first in the AFLW, joining Adelaide, Brisbane, the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne as clubs to claim a flag.
