Adelaide SANFL player Jack Madgen has departed the club and is heading to Punt Road to take on the senior VFL coaching role at Richmond.

The role was vacated by the departure of Steven Morris, who left to spend more time with his family.

Madgen initially joined the AFL as a Category B Rookie at Collingwood ahead of the 2018 season, playing 49 games in five years.

Following his delisting, the former basketballer joined the Crows' reserves side as a captain, but also featured prominently as the Adelaide Boys Academies coach and an assistant coach for the Crows' AFLW side.

Magden played 53 SANFL games for Adelaide and was named in the 2025 Team of the Year as the fullback.

"Jack has great experience both as an AFL and State League player and coaching at the elite level with the Crows AFLW," Richmond's EGM of Football Performance, Tim Livingstone, said.

"He also has a strong history in the development space, working with young teammates at the SANFL Crows and talented young players through the Adelaide Academy.

"Through both basketball and football, he has been around high-performance environments for an extended period, and we are excited about the impact he will be able to have on our VFL program.

"We welcome Jack and his family, wife Heidi, and children Izzy and Spencer to Richmond."

Madgen is committed to completing his role with Adelaide's women's team until the end of the 2025 season.

The Tigers also announced the appointments of retired Hawthorn premiership players Luke Breust and Taylor Duryea as development coaches.

Breust (Forwards) and Duryea (Backs) will join Jack Ziebell (Midfield) in the development coaching team to fast-track the club's emerging talent under Ben Rutten.
