Richmond prized draftee Sam Lalor will miss at least a month of football after injuring his hamstring in the club's loss to Essendon.
Lalor has been a breath of fresh air, joining the club as Pick 1 in last year's draft, but has "re-aggravated" an old soft-tissue injury that he had prior to entering the competition.
The Tigers have listed the emerging superstar with a 4-6 week return timeline.
"Sammy Lalor had a re-aggravation of his hamstring injury that he sustained prior to coming to the Club," High Performance Manager Ben Serpell said.
"Unfortunately for him, he is going to miss a bit of gametime, thankfully it's only going to be around about three games though."
Midfielder Thomson Dow will spend even longer on the sidelines after dislocating his kneecap.
Dow is expected to miss up to two months of football, which is a major blow for the club's on-ball brigade.
"Unfortunately, Thomson Dow dislocated his kneecap," Serpell said.
"We will see how he progresses clinically over the next little while."
In more positive news, captain and ruckman Toby Nankervis is deemed available for selection after missing the Dreamtime at the G clash after being managed with a knee injury.
"Toby Nankervis has been carrying a knee injury, like many ruckmen," Serpell said.
"He is a bit of a machine to be honest, but last week we decided to rest him because we had an opportunity to.
"In fact, we had to hold him back from playing, but we think we have managed him quite well and definitely available for selection this week."
Veteran midfielder Dion Prestia returned through the VFL over the weekend and could be rushed back in after a long lay off, while ACL victim Tylar Young also got some minutes under his legs over the weekend.
Key forward Tom Lynch will need to get through training this week to put his hand up for selection as he looks to exit concussion protocols.
Premiership defender Jayden Short's calf issue hasn't progressed as the club would have liked, and is expected to spend another fortnight on the sidelines.
