A Richmond supporter got a little too excited during the third quarter of Friday night's qualifying final win over Geelong, and dislocated his shoulder while celebrating a goal.

Mick, a Tigers fanatic who was at the MCG on Friday night, explained to Triple M on Monday morning exactly what happened.

"It was about 20 minutes into the third quarter and we'd just got a goal," Mick said.

"I wasn't high-fiving, I threw my arm up in the air like one of those Rocky punches and it dislocated.

"I came down and my wife said 'are you all right?' and I said 'I've dislocated my shoulder'.

"We got down there (to see the St John ambulance team) and the bloke said 'weโ€™ll have to take you to hospital'.

โ€œI said โ€˜why canโ€™t you put it back in here?โ€™ and he said โ€˜by law weโ€™re not allowed toโ€™.

โ€œI said โ€˜well mate, either it goes in here or weโ€™re going nowhere because Iโ€™m going back out there for the last (quarter)โ€™.โ€

Luckily for Mick, his shoulder popped back in by itself before the final term began, and he got to see his side kick seven final quarter goals and break their finals duck.

"I just sort of relaxed ... and it popped back in," Mick added.

"With that, we ran back in for the last quarter.

"A few beers and we're all good."

That is some commitment. Well done, Mick.
