Port Adelaide icon Travis Boak's playing career may come to an end on Friday at the Adelaide Oval, but he's still interested in remaining in the game.

Boak will bring an extraordinary career at Alberton to a close, spanning 19 seasons after he was drafted with Pick 5 in the 2006 National Draft.

The veteran, who hails from Geelong, denied interest from the local team ahead of the 2013 season as the Power were in desperate need of stability.

Boak's recommitment, coupled with the appointment of coach Ken Hinkley, saw the South Australian side return to the powerhouse it was earlier this century.

The pair will officially farewell Port Adelaide against the Gold Coast.

"There's definitely a little bit of sadness," Boak said on 104.7 Triple M.

"I think the sadness comes with that you know I won't get to spend time with the boys anymore; sitting in the rooms after game, you know, in the change rooms during the week. All the stuff that you love about being a footballer is around your teammates, and that's the stuff that I'll miss the most."

The 37-year-old also revealed that a "handful" of clubs have already reached out for his services beyond 2025, given his expertise, experience and leadership throughout his 386-game* career.

Before he enters his next move, Boak will head on holiday for a "couple of months".

"I've got a rough idea that I want to stay in the mindset and life-coaching and performance-coaching space. I'd love to be in sport still," Boak added.

"And some part in corporate and business as well, where we can help people define their identity outside of what they do, and I've been able to learn a lot through that, and now I can hopefully share that knowledge with someone else.

"There's been a handful (of clubs who have rang about his services), whether that's in Melbourne, whether that's here. I'm not sure yet, so still got to figure out where I want to be."
