Retiring Hawthorn legend and three-time premiership hero Luke Breust has sustained a devastating knee injury during the VFL preliminary final between the Box Hill Hawks and Footscray Bulldogs.
While laying a tackle, Breust twisted awkwardly with his Footscray opponent, which saw his right leg get caught underneath the falling player.
Breust appeared to be in agony following the incident and was unable to put any weight through his right leg as he left the ground.
He was seen limping gingerly along the boundary line shortly after being initially assessed by Box Hill's club doctors and was taken to the rooms.

The injury could mean a cruel end to an illustrious career for the legendary goalkicker, Breust winning three premierships at the Hawks, a five-time leading goal scorer at the club and a two-time All-Australian member.
More to come...
