The 2025 WAFL premiers, South Fremantle Bulldogs, have acquired the services of legendary West Coast midfielder Andrew Gaff for the 2026, with the 33-year-old set to join his former club as its Performance and Wellbeing Coordinator.
Before his illustrious 280-game career with West Coast truly kicked off, Gaff played seven games with South Fremantle in 2011, meaning his new role sees him reunite with the Red V after 15 years.
The dual All-Australian and 2015 John Worsfold medallist bid farewell to the AFL at the conclusion of the 2024 season, and took the majority of 2025 away from Aussie Rules.
According to the Bulldogs' club statement, Gaff is expected to provide "on-field support", helping guide senior footballers through performance processes, while also offering off-field assistance where needed, as South Fremantle bolster their repertoire of player-focused resources.
South Fremantle Head of Football Charlie Burke was excited to bring Gaff on board, believing his experience will be of major benefit to the club's senior men's program.
“We continue to grow our program and support our players with some terrific people, and to have Andrew Gaff come back to the club after fifteen years is very exciting,” Burke said.
“Andrew will combine his footy knowledge to support our players on-field as well as bring his passion for wellbeing as another resource to provide support for our players.

“Footy clubs are a great place to provide support to young men at an age where there are often a lot of challenges, and I know how passionate Andrew is about supporting players in this space.”
South Fremantle will aim to utilise Gaff's experience to their benefit as they hunt back-to-back WAFL premierships in 2026, looking to become the first club since Subiaco in 2018-2019 to do so.
