With the Gold Coast Suns still on the hunt for a new senior coach, Triple M journalist Damian Barrett has outlined a list of five key candidates for the vacant position.

Following Ken Hinkley's contract extension at Port Adelaide, the Suns have now turned their attentions to a number of other prospects, with many of those in their sights currently holding assistant coaching roles at rival clubs.

Stuart Dew and John Barker headline the list, while Adam Kingsley, Brendan McCartney and Jade Rawlings are also in the mix for the position.

“They’re in no rush, they’ve totally got the market to themselves,” Barrett told Triple M's Friday Huddle on Friday night.

“John Barker's been interviewed. Stuart Dew, who did pull out of the interview last Saturday which was scheduled because of his intelligence telling him that Ken Hinkley had had it at that stage, obviously that's changed - he’s back in the mix.

“Adam Kingsley, from the St Kilda footy club, is another one. Brendan McCartney, I believe, will or has been interviewed as well, Jade Rawlings is part of it.

"There's at least five, I think, and could be as many as seven or eight. They're just doing the rounds."

Barrett also didn't rule out former senior coaches Michael Voss or Brett Ratten for the role, but told Triple M he hasn't heard their names come up at any stage of the process so far.
