The 2020 AFL Draft has turned out to be one of the weaker drafts in recent years, with only two All-Australian selections and two players featuring in a premiership-winning side.
It's clear now, after five seasons, that several teams got their selection wrong, but many teams managed to find elite talent during the later rounds of the draft, with the timing of the COVID-19 pandemic obviously having a significant impact.
So here is the re-draft of the top 10 of the 2020 AFL Draft, factoring in their career so far, team success, personal awards, and their potential beyond 2025.
For context, this was the original order of the top 10 picks in the 2019 AFL Draft
1. Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (Western Bulldogs)
2. Riley Thilthorpe (Adelaide)
3. Will Phillips (North Melbourne)
4. Logan McDonald (Sydney)
5. Braeden Campbell (Sydney)
6. Denver Grainger-Barras (Hawthorn)
7. Elijah Hollands (Gold Coast)
8. Nik Cox (Essendon)
9. Archie Perkins (Essendon)
10. Zach Reid (Essendon)
9Essendon select: Zach Reid (+1)
Zach Reid's career has been riddled by injury, only featuring in 19 games across his five seasons at Essendon.
There is no doubt that Reid can be a great AFL player; in his 10 games last season, he averaged 15.4 disposals and 11 kicks, and was a great distributor for the Bombers.
Reid has the scope to be an elite defender, but until he can stay fit and injury-free, he won't be able to reach his full potential.
