The 2020 AFL Draft has turned out to be one of the weaker drafts in recent years, with only two All-Australian selections and two players featuring in a premiership-winning side.
It's clear now, after five seasons, that several teams got their selection wrong, but many teams managed to find elite talent during the later rounds of the draft, with the timing of the COVID-19 pandemic obviously having a significant impact.
So here is the re-draft of the top 10 of the 2020 AFL Draft, factoring in their career so far, team success, personal awards, and their potential beyond 2025.
For context, this was the original order of the top 10 picks in the 2019 AFL Draft
1. Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (Western Bulldogs)
2. Riley Thilthorpe (Adelaide)
3. Will Phillips (North Melbourne)
4. Logan McDonald (Sydney)
5. Braeden Campbell (Sydney)
6. Denver Grainger-Barras (Hawthorn)
7. Elijah Hollands (Gold Coast)
8. Nik Cox (Essendon)
9. Archie Perkins (Essendon)
10. Zach Reid (Essendon)
6Western Bulldogs select (matched bid): Jamara Ugle-Hagan (-5)
Jamara Ugle-Hagen had a difficult 2025 to say the least; his off-field issues have almost derailed his career to date, and he was lucky to be given a second chance by the Suns.
There is no doubt he is a talented player and has all the abilities to be an elite key forward, but his off-field drama has tarnished his playing ability.
He slips down to six in our re-draft, but would the Bulldogs still match a bid on him if they knew this is how his career would pan out?
