The 2020 AFL Draft has turned out to be one of the weaker drafts in recent years, with only two All-Australian selections and two players featuring in a premiership-winning side.
It's clear now, after five seasons, that several teams got their selection wrong, but many teams managed to find elite talent during the later rounds of the draft, with the timing of the COVID-19 pandemic obviously having a significant impact.
So here is the re-draft of the top 10 of the 2020 AFL Draft, factoring in their career so far, team success, personal awards, and their potential beyond 2025.
For context, this was the original order of the top 10 picks in the 2019 AFL Draft
1. Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (Western Bulldogs)
2. Riley Thilthorpe (Adelaide)
3. Will Phillips (North Melbourne)
4. Logan McDonald (Sydney)
5. Braeden Campbell (Sydney)
6. Denver Grainger-Barras (Hawthorn)
7. Elijah Hollands (Gold Coast)
8. Nik Cox (Essendon)
9. Archie Perkins (Essendon)
10. Zach Reid (Essendon)
3North Melbourne select: Riley Thilthorpe (-1)
North Melbourne fans have been crying out for another elite key forward alongside new captain Nick Larkey, and in this re-draft, they would have one.
Thilthorpe has missed significant time with injury over his career so far, only featuring in seven games in 2024, but he bounced back this year, featuring in 25 games, kicking 60 goals and making his first All-Australian appearance.
A key forward duo of Thilthorpe and Larkey would be one of, if not the best, forward pairings in the league.
